I think this was my first adventure in cake making. My son was turning one and we wanted to have a CAT party. Mostly for the truck theme. I did a lot of research and this is also when I came across Family Fun. Again I have mentioned this is one of my favorite websites. Fun ideas for all ages. This cake was just for him and we probably did cupcakes or sheet cakes for everyone else.I wanted to share this fun recipe and if you continue to explore the cake section at www.familyfun.com you will discover a world of easy themed cakes for all events, seasons, ages and more. Please post any pics of some fun ideas you have done!
You can find this specific cake at: http://familyfun.go.com/recipes/dessert-recipes/cakes-cupcakes/theme-cakes-general/edible-excavator-cake-688626/
I am going to keep you posted on projects I am doing and some tutorials. I also want to keep you posted on just some fun homemade crafts we may come up with as a family. Thank you for looking and if you have any questions or suggestion please email me. ENJOY!

Patriotic Bows
My Daughter loves to wear bows and as she got older and I got wiser, I thought hey let me save some money and make my own bows. The boutique bows are sweet but as she is well into her fives the boutique bows were not fitting her head or long hair. Last year she got involved in cheerleading and I fell in love with "Cheer" style bows. I offer basic boutique bows and flowers but my new love is Cheer style bows. I have been playing around and this patriotic bow is one of my favorites! I hope you like it as much as I do. This paticular bow is sold out! oops :) but I will be featuring a new one soon. Now I can do custom orders too. You have an outfit you want to match or colors you love to wear, just write me a not and I'll get some ideas out to you. This basic Cheer style bow is $5.00. I do not mind shipping with an additional shipping and handling fee

History of the Pillowcase Dress
The Pillowcase Dress
While doing research on the pillowcase dress, I learned that this style has been around for 100 plus years. These dresses were simple and inexpensive for families to dress their daughter sduring difficult economic times. The pillowcase dress was made from potato sacks, old linens, and of course the pillowcase. It would have been wasteful to throw away a perfectly fine pillowcase even if the match was unusable. And though my research was difficult when it came to exact origin and dates, it was definitely clear this dresses, through testimonials and pictures from history, are an American staple in fashion.
But onto today’s pillowcase dresses, they are adorable, made for different seasons, and a staple because they grow with your child.
I am too excited to let you all know I will selling a collection of pillowcase dresses this June and I want you to stay tuned because I will also be having a giveaway!
Yes! You or a lucky friend will have a chance to win a pillowcase dress that can be worn by your daughter, niece, or friend’s daughter. The dress will be posted on http://www.facebook.com/people/MiaMingles-Bobbie-Wraight/100001762941996 and http://www.miamingles.blogspot.com on March 14th 2011 and it will be given away on April 15th 2011!
Here is a pillowcase dress I made for my daughter’s 5th birthday. It was a Fancy Nancy party. Her birthday is in January so with a turtle neck and some tights this dress was ready for the cold weather. Some dresses are made from corduroy and flannel for the winter months but with spring and summer (hopefully) around the corner, 98% of my dresses will be made for warmer months.
This dress is not the one for the giveaway.

Ahhh
So, the closet is clean and has stayed clean for a couple days now! It is like a cleansing. I am super excited. Now, I have room for the pillow case dresses I will be making for a craft show this summer.
This week we are working getting Valentines ready for both my kids. They are in pre-k at different schools. This makes it a exciting time for them but difficult for me because I have to be as equal as possible.
UMM Scary!
